Bodywork Menu:
60 mins $80 90 Mins $110 Developed in Japan this style of bodywork helps to promote health and well being by harmonising the body, mind and spirit. Shiatsu draws upon the principles of Traditional Oriental Medicine and literally translated from Japanese, 'shi' means finger and 'atsu' means pressure. The health and harmony of our minds and bodies depends upon our optimum levels of inherited constitution, as well as external elements which build and nurture energy, blood and fluids. All pervading and travelling through many pathways in the body. Areas of the body that can become deficient of blood and energy soon give rise to overactivity within another area resulting in muscular tension, stress and blood stagnation. To rebalance and restore harmony within the body a series of compressive techniques using palms, thumbs, fingers, knuckles, elbows or feet may be used. Shiatsu does not require the use of oils and is usually performed on a futon mat on the floor therefore comfortable, loose, cotton clothing should be worn. Shiatsu affects all internal organs, muscles, ligaments, joints, nervous, endocrine and immune systems. Conditions that may respond well to Shiatsu include: high/low blood pressure, depression, anxiety, fatigue, arthritis, pregnancy, allergies, migraine, overuse injuries, postural imbalances, stress, muscular tension and insomnia.
